Norwich International Airport News Update.

Norwich International Airport continues its agressive expansion with new routes announced by flybe for the coming winter schedule. Flights to Alicante in Spain started from 30th September and Malaga followed on October 2nd. To accommodate the skiing holiday season flights to Chambery in France and Geneva in Switzerland start from 17th December.


About Norwich International Airport.

Norwich international Airport is 3 miles north of Norwich city centre and has grown substatially in the last few years into a regional hub for scheduled airlines as well as a stress free local airport from which to start your holiday.

The airport has a single passenger terminal, a 6000ft runway with 8 aircraft stands. Scheduled flights go to other regional uk airports(Aberdeen(5 flights a day), Glasgow(daily), Edinburgh(4 a day), Manchester(3 a day), Cardiff(3 a week), Belfast(daily) and Jersey(5 a week)) as well as Dublin and Amsterdam. The Amersterdam service run by KLM has 4 flights per day(3 on Saturday) and residents of East Anglia may find it quicker and more convenient to use Amsterdams Schiphol airport rather than Heathrow or Gatwick for long international flights.

Norwich International Airport was originally RAF Horsham St Faith, built in 1939 but used by US B-24 Liberators Bombers during the latter part of the war. It was decommisioned as an RAF base in 1967. The IATA airport code is NWI and has around 500,000 passenger movements per year.

The Norwich Hilton hotel is two minutes walk from the passenger terminal. The hotel has 121 rooms with additional conference, restaurant and cafe bar facilities. The hotel offers overnight accomodation and up to 15 days parking, a package that can be as cheap as the parking charge alone.

Directions: Norwich Airport is well signposted and is on the A140 route, the Cromer road. The A140 also the ring road around Norwich City centre. So whether you are travelling from the East, West or South you should continue into Norwich until you reach the A140 Ring Road.
